Inka Verde & The Heladeria

Doing a little Christmas shopping in downtown Santa Elena last week and stopped by here for ice cream. Nice little place with friendly staff and lots of ice cream flavors. I liked BigJohn's the best. He had two scoops, coffee and coconut. Good combination!

Then headed across the street to Inka Verde for lunch. I know that was a little backwards with ice cream first, but it all works out.

Liked this review of the place from Trip Advisor that I found online-

“Inka Verde - Pura Vida!”

Inka Verde is owned by Treehouse and they are linked and share the same kitchen and chef. The beauty is since the Inka Verde side is more basic decor, you get the same Peruvian food in the same portions they serve at Treehouse at half the price. The chef is Peruvian and you can tell. I have been to Peru, and live in Miami which has a high Latin American influence and authentic Peruvian restaurants, and I have to say the ceviche at Inka Verde was the best I've had anywhere. It was fresh, large portions, and I could have had 2 of the ceviche appetizers for dinner and been stuffed. I got the (cooked) mariscos with rice for dinner - it was good too with a sweet soy sauce, but the ceviche is the superstar here! Enjoy! And the prices incredibly low - about $5 for a huge appetizer serving. And the service is excellent. They can't make you happy enough.

Friendly staff. Although it was a little irritating that the waiter kept playing with his phone and texting the whole time he was taking our order. I'm surprised he remembered anything! I jokes!! They're hi-tech and waiters aren't using paper and pen there anymore.

How does that look? Delicious? Oh really? You like octopus tentacle in your soup? Because that's what it looks like to me sitting there on the spoon. I don't think that black shell is edible either. Joking! It was delicious. Or so they said. I had the ceviche and must agree with the review from Trip Advisor. It was excellent!

A little bit of the Peruvian decor at Inka Verde.
