Bananas Are Ripe!

We've been waiting for this day for a couple of weeks now and it has finally happened. YEAH!! This means Banana Cream Pie! Click here for the recipe I used.
And if you're interested in a pie crust that doesn't need to be rolled out, click here for that info. Came in handy for me when I realized I didn't have a rolling pin.
What would I do without the internet? So glad to have all those recipes at my fingertips.

Have I mentioned that I looked all over Santa Elena stores for a pie plate? I don't think they're allowed here. This was back when we found the lime tree and I was wanting to make Key Lime Pie. Gave up on that idea until I came across this fry pan in the back of the cupboard which was just the right size! And now I can take a pie out of the oven with only one hand! Bet you can't do that with a regular pie plate!

Making whipped cream the old fashioned way isn't nearly as much fun as it sounds. It's torture. Really. It is. And don't suggest I use the blender. That's for alcoholic beverages only. I jokes! I tried the blender on the Key Lime Pie project and it does not work. I'd explain the scientific principle behind why that doesn't work in a blender but you wouldn't understand it. So back to the old fashioned way. I whipped and whipped.
Finally had to break out my secret weapon to give it a good whipping. And I have a picture of this but was warned by BigJohn not to post it.
Finally! Haven't these people ever heard of Cool Whip?
TaDa! Okay. I know it doesn't look that great but they PhotoShop all those pictures in Good Housekeeping Magazine and I can't compete with that!  Now wait until you find out what happened to the rest of that banana bunch. You are in for a big surprise!!
