Seviche for Lunch at Carillo Beach

We heard about Carillo Beach from our landlord. She said it was her favorite beach in all of Costa Rica. It was just a couple of km from our hotel so we checked it out yesterday. Nice! Some big waves coming in. One surfboarder was there getting some practice in. The dogs spent most of the day staying out of the sun. Lucky I got the nice shot of Hannah with the quetzal earring before she went into the water as the waves took that earring as well as my sunglasses. Just when you think it's safe to go into the water! A young woman on a little motorcycle pulled over to chat with BigJohn (That's been happening a lot. I think it's his tan that's attracting them.) She was selling her seviche which made for a great lunch along with a coconut BigJohn found. Francisco just happened to have a machete handy. He's got machete skills. Came in handy with the sugar cane he found also. Made me a little nervous when he was over there bushwacking through the jungle to cute the sugar cane as I'd seen a sign posted warning about crocodiles in the river. We say goodbye to the beach and head back up the mountain today.
