Crocs and Monkeys!

Or "cocodrilos y monos" as they would say in Costa Rica! We decided to stop by Palo Verde on the way home. So glad we did! Hannah and Francisco had been there before. Francisco told us it's one of his favorite tours as there is so much to see. Francisco has a friend who manages the Boat Tours so got us set up. Nice to be so connected!

Howler Monkeys

Crocs and heron

Those are long-nosed bats sleeping on a burned over tree trunk.

White-Faced or Capuchin Monkey
I saw my first howler monkey, white-face monkey, crocodile, and too many new bird species to list! We had the boat to ourselves and a great captain with some stories to tell. He told us how the trees swayed wildly and big waves came up on the usually calm river during the last big earthquake. And he described seeing a 4 meter long croc attack and eat one half its size. The tourists on board had wanted him to save the smaller croc but I guess there are rules against that or I'm sure he would have dove right in there.
